April 2011: Making Bread in the New Bakery
The construction of the bakery is finally finished, complete with a large brick oven. Now the orphanage can enjoy fresh bread made on site. Here is Francisco removing some bread from the oven.
January 2011: Sidewalks are Completed
Cachora has a climate with a rainy season December through March. This resulted in a lot of mud being tracked into the houses. To help solve this problem, we had sidewalks constructed between and around all the houses. Now the children's shoes stay cleaner!
November 2010: A Better Way to Wash Clothes
It's a big job to wash clothes by hand for fifty people. The orphanage staff requested a washing machine to help with the job and a couple of generous donors provided the money.
April 2010: Student Raises Money for Playground Equipment
Taylor Vaughan, a senior at Cherokee High School in Canton, GA coordinated a fundraiser to benefit the orphanage as his senior project. With the money he raised, he purchased this playground equipment. It's extremely popular with all the children, as you can see.
