January 2009: Jersey Cows Join the Orphanage Family
Some of the money that was donated to the orphanage for Christmas gifts was used to purchase two Jersey cows. Margarita (on the right) is two months pregnant, and Valentina is Margarita's heifer calf from last year. Everyone at the orphanage is excited about enjoying the fresh milk.
December 2008: Christmas at the Orphanage
The children enjoyed their first Christmas together. For some it was the first time they had ever received a Christmas gift. They each received a complete Bible and the story of Jesus' life, as well as some clothes and a toy. With some of the Christmas money, Francisco purchased a digital camera, which we've all been enjoying. Francisco also hosted a Christmas party and invited all the children of the village. A clown was part of the entertainment.
December 2008: Upcoming Mission Trip
A mission trip to Cachora and the orphanage is scheduled for April 3-10, 2009. You can find more detailed information about it here.
September 2008: Orphanage Dedication
In September 2008 a mission team traveled to Cachora and hosted a dedication ceremony for the orphanage. You can find photos and more information here.
August 2008: Children Occupy the Orphanage
The first children moved into the orphanage. There are fifteen ranging in age from 6 to 11. They are being cared for by two sets of house parents and an administrative couple.
